I love a parade

Our Utah/Idaho Summer Get-Away

Part 1:

This Summer, like the previous two, we spent the last weeks of our summer vacation visiting our family and dear friends in Utah and Idaho. It was a wonderful escape from the desert heat and a pretty perfect way to rest, relax and rejuvenate before the busier, more scheduled days of school routines rolled around again. We drove up to Utah and spent our first day there playing at BYU with the kids:
Shopping at the bookstore (outfitting Zac with a BYU wardrobe),
Bowling at the Wilk,
And of course eating lunch, ice cream AND mint brownies at the BYU Creamery. Yum!

(I love taking my kids to BYU. It means so much to me and played such an important role in my life. In the 4 wonderful years I spent there, not only did I have the time of my life, but I learned soooo much, met and married the man of my dreams, and graduated with a degree in design, a deeper testimony of the gospel, and a greater knowledge of who I am and what I wanted to become. I want this experience for each of my children. Soooo I love to take them there and start planting little seeds...)
We spent the later half of the day enjoying the company of our wonderful friends the Seare's, who we miss terribly since they moved to Utah last summer. They insisted that we stayed with them and we loved spending time with them in their beautiful home. The boys all took in a game of golf, while Kristen and I headed straight to TaiPan :) We ended a great day with Costa Vida and visiting until it was "o-dark-thirty" :) (sadly I enjoyed myself sooo much that I didn't think to take any pics! Crazy - I know)

The following day we met up with the Sabey's, our dear friends since dental school, at the Day's of '47 Parade in SLC. We followed the parade with lunch at Tucano's, a unique and delicious Brazilian Grill that is a new family favorite! Then, the dads took the kids to the Clark Planetarium, while Kerri, Maddi and I took in a little shopping. We concluded our Pioneer Day celebration in Spanish Fork with shakes at Glades Drive Inn, and the Spanish Fork Rodeo and fireworks show!

This is Kristen's mom, grandmother and daughter Chloe in this beautiful carriage, one of many from her mother's collection.

End of Summer Fun (Idaho/Utah)

We ended a wonderful summer with a trip up to Utah and Idaho Falls. Dave drove the kids and I out. We spent a fun Pioneer day (24th of July) in Spanish Fork with lots of my family there. We had yummy food, fantastic company, rode horses, went to a carnival and ended a perfect day with the Spanish Fork Rodeo and fireworks. We drove up to Idaho Falls the next day and attended a fun celebration there with Dave's parents. We spent a fun and relaxing weekend together before Dave flew back to AZ Monday evening. The kids and I stayed and played for the next two weeks. Dave rejoined us in Utah the next week on Friday. We spent a couple of days with our dear friends, the Sabeys, and then drove home the day before school was to begin again. Nothing like squeezing in every last drop of Summer fun! So... here are a ton of pictures - the highlights of a fantastic summer vacation. My favorite way to view them is to select slideshow and enjoy :)
